What is your definition for Web Analytics?
Web Analytics is collection, analysis and reporting of internet data as it is best explained, to add, it helps feel the pulse of your visitor and how well are you living up with the visitor expectation.
How big is the importance of Web Analytics in India today and how big should it be?
Web Analytics is still in its initial stages in India, Web Analytics is majorly used to understand traffic and reporting purpose. This will soon change and move towards more analysis and data driven decisions using web analytics. One of the other big reason why Web Analytics is still not big is coz internet is still growing and at a high rate (40% growth) and all the firms are currently focusing on having latest technology on their website and the web 2.0 bubble still exists and 2008 will see this bubble settle and there will be more focus on measurement and will kick off making a strategic alliance between marketing efforts and Web Analytics.
Please describe a perfectly designed Website.
A Website exists for a reason, goal and marketing strategy; a perfectly designed website would be one which fulfills its goals thru exchange of goods, services or ideas! This in a way where it can satisfy customer needs better than its rivals and in a way that generates the kind of profits.
What is special about the Market in India? Who are the key vendors/Consulting companies?
India is right behind china as the worlds most populated country! And houses one of the biggest Middle Class communities, and its a proven fact that middle class population are the highest spenders in Indian markets and this will be seen in the online world also and thats exactly where big firms are banking on. To back up to what I said a recent report released by IMNAI internet is accessed more from small towns than the metros and other major cities. This clearly indicates that India is a huge market.
I recently wrote about existing Web Analytics vendors in India, Theres low vendor penetration, but Omniture now has opened office in India and 2008 is crucial year for it in India. WebTrends has a partner/affiliate in India while rest of industry players are yet to make their presence felt.
Which goals and success stories can be achieved through Web Analytics? Please describe a Case Study/Reference.
Web Analytics can help in many ways! It not only helps you understand how your business is performing but also helps one to understand the effectiveness of their marketing strategy. Web Analytics helps understand your PPC, SEO, Email Campaign efforts.
The best part (and my favorite) is how web analytics can be used for Web site optimization techniques like
1. Landing Page Optimization
2. A/B and Multivariate Tests
3. Funnel and Path Analysis
What are the principal reasons when choosing a Web Analytics Tool?
IMHO Customization is the key; Security, implementation, Data Segmentation, Cost, Support and services have equal importance.
What is the Web Analytics Trend in India for the next 2-3 years?
In 2008, Web Analytics is India will start forming an integral part of online marketing, Internet based companies will start reviewing various paid web analytics options available in the market and implement them. Although it will still take time realize the Power of Web Analytics, Companies will use Web Analytics to understand traffic and initial assessment of their website performance. The coming years there will be more focus on measurement and will kick off making a strategic alliance between marketing efforts and Web Analytics.
This inturn will churn many Web Analytics startups consulting firm offering Analytics Implementation, Support and Analysis help.
